Making a film is expensive and we are a completely independent production, without any commercial or institutional funding. We’re paying everything from our international airfare to our assistants’ time out-of-pocket.
In April 2026, we are launching a Kickstarter campaign, where you will be able to pick from a range of donation tiers and get fabulous rewards in return, such as high quality prints of Chuck’s artwork (or even originals, if you invest enough money!) That page is forthcoming, but in the meantime, you can read more about Kickstarter’s model here.
However, even if you don’t have funds to spare, you could help us out a ton by connecting us with resources! Do you know an interpreter, or can you gift us language classes? Do you know journalists, critics, institutions, or academics that would be interested in a film about mail art? Do you have a large studio with a 20ft bare wall you could lend us for a day to paint a massive map of the world? Have a home in Recife, Brazil that we could crash at? Know a billionaire that wants to help save the legacy of an art movement? Get us connected!

Traditionally, mail artists have found each other via address catalogs which were physically circulated via zines and show write-ups.
Today, many artists find each other online! Websites like the International Union of Mail Artists show artist profiles, as well as open calls for contributions to shows, zines and other websites. However, you don’t even need to be linked into the broader network if you don’t want to – you can just start making and sending art to your loved ones!
As we work on the project, we will be releasing our own catalog with the addresses of active mail artists - including some of the ones appearing in our film.
